WildlifeUnite 2022

WildlifeUnite 2022: Virtual Maine

WildlifeUnite is the annual gathering of grassroots wildlife conservation leaders from across the nation.  WildlifeUnite is built around the core of the National Wildlife Federation’s Annual Meeting, the longest-running annual conference of wildlife conservation advocates in the nation.

WildlifeUnite 2022 took place from June 7-11, 2022. The conference was held online, which both protected participants from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic while also creating the opportunity for even more people to participate.

In recognition of the importance of local conservation and our tradition of holding our annual meeting around the nation, WildlifeUnite 2022 was held virtually from Maine, cohosted by the National Wildlife Federation and the Natural Resources Council of Maine.  This gave us a great opportunity to carry out our work while spotlighting the issues, people, and communities of Maine and New England.

Over the course of five days, conservation advocates shared information, developed their skills, and set strategy to tackle the most pressing issues facing wildlife and people.

Our Commitment to Shared Values and Respect

The National Wildlife Federation is committed to providing a safe, respectful and welcoming environment for our staff, affiliates, sponsors, partners, and guests during WildlifeUnite. The Federation is committed to inclusion, collaboration, empowerment, mindfulness, and our mission-focus. As we all move forward, it is ever more important for each of us individually to embody those values in our work and in our interactions with each other.

It is the responsibility of all WildlifeUnite participants to treat each other with dignity and respect during all portions of the conference including social events. We are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for people of every gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, ability level, physical appearance, body size, religious views, race, and ethnicity.

The National Wildlife Federation does not tolerate the harassment, discrimination, bullying, intimidation, abuse of authority, or mistreatment of any individual.

If you experience or witness harassment, feel uncomfortable, or have any other concerns, please report this immediately to any Director of Conservation Partnerships, NWF General Counsel Ben Kota, or NWF Board Member Mary Van Kerrebrook. The National Wildlife Federation will take swift, appropriate measures to protect those who have experienced harassment or mistreatment to ensure they feel safe for the duration of the conference. Federation staff, board affiliates, and partners will work together to hold accountable any person who harasses or mistreats another.

Working together, we will ensure that WildlifeUnite is a place where we can deepen our relationships and keep growing an inclusive and influential conservation movement.

About the National Wildlife Federation

We’ve been on the front lines for wildlife since 1936, fighting for the conservation values that are woven into the fabric of our nation’s collective heritage.

The National Wildlife Federation is made up of 52 state and territory affiliates—autonomous, nonprofit organizations that lead state and local conservation efforts and collaborate to conduct grassroots activities on national issues.  Our national organization also operates from offices across the country, including our headquarters in Reston, Virginia; a National Advocacy Center in Washington, D.C.; and seven regional centers.  Collectively, National Wildlife Federation and our affiliates encompass more than 6.9 million members and supporters.
