Lake Tahoe: Gathering Place for Generations

Lake Tahoe is the largest lake in the Sierra Nevada, one of the deepest lakes in the world, and just behind the Great Lakes in total volume of water. This spectacular location and rich landscape have drawn people together for centuries. WildlifeUnite will take place on the south shore of Tahoe, on the border between California and Nevada.

Conference Venue & Hotel

WildlifeUnite 2023 will take place at the Harrah’s Lake Tahoe Hotel & Event Center in Stateline, Nevada. Most participants will be staying at Harrah’s Hotel and the adjacent Harvey’s Hotel. If you have not already booked a room, there are several other hotels in the immediate area.

Airport Information

Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) 

Reno-Tahoe International Airport is the closet airport to the Harrah’s Lake Tahoe Hotel and Casino. Travel time via car is approximately 1-1/2 hours door to door, dependent on weather and traffic. Reno-Tahoe International Airport provides convenient access to nine rental car agencies with rental car pick-up available right outside the terminal building. All rental car counters are located in baggage claim. After completing the rental agreement inside, vehicles may be collected from the parking garage located just outside baggage claim. Taxis, Rideshares and Transportation Network Companies like Uber and Lyft, are available to and from RNO. Sacramento International Airport (SMF) 

Sacramento International Airport is the next closet airport to Lake Tahoe. Sacramento International Airport has nonstop and direct flights (one stop without changing planes) throughout North America and connecting flights to almost anywhere. The following interactive map lists all cities with nonstop service from SMF. To see a list of every nonstop flight to and from SMF visit here.  A rule of thumb to arrive at the airport is an hour and a half for domestic flights and two hours for international flights. After booking your flight, please see the Airlines page for more information about the location of your airline. 

Ground Transportation

Reno-Tahoe International Airport 

Harrah’s and Harvey’s Lake Tahoe do not operate a shuttle bus from the Reno Airport to Lake Tahoe, however the South Tahoe Airporter offers private shuttle buses for a price of $59.50 round trip. NWF is offering a 10% discount code for reservation, (please use the promo code NWF). They have a location in the baggage claim area at the Reno Airport.  More information regarding specific times and ticket prices can be obtained by calling 1-866-89-TAHOE (1-866-898-2463) or visiting their web site at  https://southtahoeairporter.com/.  Please note: Trip time is approximately 1-1/2 hours door to door, dependent on weather and traffic. 

Sacramento International Airport 

Travel time via car is approximately 2 ½ hours (117 miles) door to door, dependent on weather and traffic.  

All rental car companies at Sacramento International Airport are located at the rental car terminal on airport property. More information can be found here. On-demand taxi service is provided by the Sacramento Independent Taxi Owners Association (SITOA) by contract. This contract ensures the availability of cars and the quality of equipment and service provided. Shuttle Services

South Tahoe Airporter offers private shuttle buses that will be available from the Reno airport to Harrah’s or Harvey’s for a price of $59.50 round trip. NWF is offering a 10% discount code for reservation, (please use the promo code NWF). Passengers going from Reno International Airport to South Lake Tahoe must check in at the South Tahoe Airport office located behind National Rental Car in Baggage Claim IN or with the driver outside of DOOR D. South Tahoe Airporter buses are Green and White buses that read either “Amador Stage Lines” or “South Tahoe Airporter”.

Private car companies, such as Uber, or Lyft run about $100 from Reno and $150 from Sacramento. 

Parking 

If you are attending the meeting and staying at Harrah’s or Harvey’s, self-parking in the adjacent garage is free. Just use your hotel room key for entry and exit. If you are attending the meeting and not staying at either hotel, contact chadwickd@nwf.org for a free parking pass.
